Recognizing the need to improve healthcare accessibility for Filipinos, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. continues to monitor the progress of various government initiatives on this basic humanitarian need.

This, as the President visited a private hospital in Ortigas, Pasig City, on Monday, to assess the quality of medical services and the implementation of expanded benefits of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

Upon his arrival, he inspected both the urgent and non-urgent care areas, interacted with patients and their families, and assessed other hospital facilities such as the mother-and-baby-friendly room, male and female surgery wards.

During his interaction with several patients, President Marcos Jr. heard stories of how their PhilHealth membership eased the financial burden of hospitalization and medical care.

The tour around the hospital likewise saw the President walking through the Alfredo R.A. Bengzon Patient Access Ward and its state-of-the-art emergency department, which reaffirms the hospital’s commitment to providing the best for their clients.

Malacañang said the visit highlighted the government’s continuing efforts to strengthen healthcare accessibility through enhanced PhilHealth coverage, including the expanded maternity care package and outpatient emergency care benefits.

Accompanying the Chief Executive during the visit was PhilHealth President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Edwin Mercado, who both recognized the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors to ensure inclusive healthcare for all.
