President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is glad that the impeachment complaints against him were junked, Malacañang said Wednesday.
In an interview with reporters, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said that the President did not watch the deliberations of the House Committee on Justice and was only notified of the result, as he was busy with a private meeting and an event.
The House justice panel junked the two impeachment complaints filed against Marcos Jr. due to insufficiency in substance.
For the first impeachment rap filed by lawyer Andre de Jesus and endorsed by Pusong Pinoy party-list Rep. Jett Nisay, 42 lawmakers voted in favor of the dismissal, while only one voted against and three abstained.
In the second complaint filed by the Makabayan coalition, only seven voted to have it declared sufficient in substance, while 39 voted against the motion, with zero abstentions.
(with reports from Kenneth Paciente and Vel Custodio / PTV News)
