As Filipinos head to cemeteries to pay their respects to their loved ones, the essence of Undas or the annual observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day becomes a key priority for the government.

This, as President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. outlined the preparations set in motion by concerned government agencies to handle the volume of passengers on PUV terminals, seaports, and airports, as well as motorists on thoroughfares nationwide.

In a video message published on social media Friday, the President shared the following updates:

  • DOTr’s inspections in key terminals to ensure passenger safety
  • LTFRB’s issuance of 1,000 special permits for additional buses
  • MARINA’s release of relaxation order and special permits to secure additional passenger ships and mitigate schedule disruptions
  • Fully-manned immigration counters to ensure uninterrupted air travel
  • Round-the-clock help desks at major passenger hubs

Moreover, to ensure peace and order, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has deployed personnel nationwide to keep a watchful eye on cemeteries, churches, and other points of convergence.

The Bureau of Fire Protection and the Department of Health, on the other hand, have positioned teams that are ready to respond at a moment’s notice in case of emergencies.

President Marcos Jr. wrapped up his message with a few gentle reminders for the citizenry, which include advanced planning and preparedness to avoid inconveniences, as well as compliance with regulations and coordination with authorities.
