PBBM to visit Cambodia, attend UN General Assembly

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will embark on a state visit to Cambodia and later attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York next month, Malacañang announced Wednesday.

Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Marcos will be in Phnom Penh from Sept. 7-9 for a state visit.

After Cambodia, the Chief Executive is set to fly to New York to participate in the 80th UN General Assembly, where he is expected to deliver the Philippines’ statement on key global issues and meet with world leaders on the sidelines.

“Details of the President’s agenda in both trips, including bilateral meetings in Phnom Penh and speaking engagements in New York, will be announced in the coming days,” Castro said.

The President’s upcoming UNGA appearance will mark his second, following his 2022 participation.

The 80th session of the UNGA will open on Sept. 8, while the High-level Week—when heads of state and government traditionally deliver their addresses—will reportedly run from Sept. 22 to 30.

The UNGA is the main legislative, policymaking body of the UN, where leaders meet to discuss international issues covered by the UN Charter. (PNA)
