PBBM unfazed by impeachment complaint filed against him

Malacañang continues to reaffirm President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s loyalty to the Constitution and trust in various legal processes and institutions that define Philippine democracy.

This, despite an impeachment complaint lodged by Pusong Pinoy Party-list Representative Jett Nisay against President Marcos Jr., which was received by House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil on Monday.

The 12-page inquiry contains six arguments prepared by lawyer Andre de Jesus, which cite graft and corruption due to kickbacks and ghost projects; and participation in the surrender of former President Rodrigo Duterte to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

At a briefing on Tuesday, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro lashed out at the statements made by Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte in favor of the impeachment complaint against the country’s top government official.

She moreover clarified that de Jesus is not the same lawyer who represented First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos in a previous disbarment case vis-à-vis Atty. Glenn Chong’s utterances against the President’s spouse, calling out Duterte and his supporters for spreading false information against the First Couple.

Castro concluded her remarks by reiterating a media statement Monday, noting that President Marcos Jr. will continue with his work and remains firm in trusting democracy and due process amid such developments.
