PBBM vows to enact further measures to protect workers’ rights, welfare

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. reaffirms the government’s strong commitment to look after the workers’ rights and welfare in his meeting with labor leaders in Malacañang on Tuesday, June 3.

President Marcos said during the meeting: “Nakausap ko ang ating mga labor leaders para tiyakin na mananatiling protektado ang karapatan at kapakanan ng ating mga manggagawa.”

He added: “Patuloy ang suporta ng gobyerno sa bukas at makabuluhang usapan tungo sa trabahong may dignidad, sahod na sapat, at kinabukasang may pag-asa para sa bawat pamilyang Pilipino.”

Labor workers are widely considered as the lifeblood of the nation, rendering their time, efforts, skills, and expertise to keep the country’s economy moving forward.

Such sacrifice consisting of blood, sweat, and tears necessitate the need to protect their rights and uphold their welfare as the movers of the nation’s progress.

Among those present during the meeting were Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) President and House Deputy Speaker Raymond Democrito; Associated Labor Unions (ALU) National President Michael Democrito Mendoza; National Congress of Unions in the Sugar Industry of the Philippines President Roland Dela Cruz; All Workers Alliance Trade Unions President Temistocles Dejon Jr.; and Pambansang Kilusan ng Paggawa President Arthur Juego.

Also in attendance were Vice President for National and International Affairs of the Philippine Trade and General Workers Organization (PTGWO) under ALU-TUCP Arvin Dolendo; ALU National Executive Vice President Gerard Seno; National Vice President for Luzon Cecilio Seno Jr.; Southern Mindanao Federation of Labor Representative Archie Capoy; ALU Vice President for Administration Rosalio Aragon Jr.; TUCP spokesperson Carlos Miguel Oñate; TUCP Assistant General Secretary Shirley Vicoy-Yorong; TUCP Chief of Staff Archie Ranin; and TUCP member Louise Andrei Bagalayos.
