President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. continues to enjoy a rise in his satisfaction and trust ratings, while Vice President Sara Duterte suffered a slight drop, according to market research firm and public opinion polling company Tangere on Sunday.

In its Trust and Satisfaction Ratings of Top Government Officials conducted on Sept. 16 to 19, Tangere said that at least 58.80% of Filipinos trust the President in September, up 58.50% in August.

Marcos’ satisfaction rating also increased from 46% to 46.40% during the same period.

According to the pollster, the Chief Executive received the highest satisfaction and trust scores in Northern Luzon and Central Luzon, as well as among respondents aged 26 to 35; his highest distrust and dissatisfaction ratings were observed in Mindanao and among respondents aged 51 and above.

The President, in a statement earlier this month, said such surveys serve as a motivation and challenge for the government to do better.

“We take the high road in our efforts, not merely to seek popularity, but to render genuine and effective service that improves our people’s lives, strengthens our nation, and secures our future,” he stated.

In a survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations last June 23 to July 1, the satisfaction rating of the Marcos administration rose significantly in the second quarter of 2024—resulting in a “good” +40 net satisfaction rating for the period, up by 11 points from the previous quarter’s (March 2024) “moderate” +29.

Northern Luzon is considered the political bailiwick of the Marcos family, while Mindanao is the stronghold of the Dutertes.

On the other hand, the Vice President’s trust and satisfaction ratings dipped for the month of September—with her trust rating declining to 56.70% from 57% in August and her satisfaction rating decreasing to 48.70% from 49% during the same period.

“The Vice President continues to receive strong support from Mindanao, where trust and satisfaction levels are the highest,” Tangere stated.

“However, dissatisfaction and distrust are highest in Central Luzon, Northern Luzon, and Southern Luzon,” it added.

The survey was administered using a mobile-based application to a total of 2,000 respondents across the country—with 12% coming from the National Capital Region, 23% from Northern Luzon, 22% from Southern Luzon, 20% from Visayas, and 23% from Mindanao. —avds/av/jmmv
