PCG seizes boat over illegal quarrying in Basilan

The Philippine Coast Guard seized on Sunday, Feb, 26, a vessel engaged in illegal sand quarrying activity in Basilan.

Based on its report, the vessel FB Under Water was caught in the vicinity waters off Barangay Marang-Marang, Malamawi Island, Isabela City.

The PCG said the vessel violated Section 47 of Isabela City Ordinance No. 03-148 relating to Quarrying of the Marine Habitat.

Based on its investigation, the owner of the boat who was identified as Hassan Adjal is a local of Barangay Marang-Marang.

The Isabela City Agriculturist Office is investigating Ajal and three other crew members.

It also took over the custody of the fishing boat for documentation and disposal. – Katrina Gracia Consebido-ag
