PCG visits Kagoshima to boost defense, security ties with Japan, U.S.

A Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) delegation has visited the 10th Regional Headquarters of the Japan Coast Guard (JCG) in Kagoshima to boost defense and security cooperation in the maritime region.

The PCG said this is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s vision of forging closer defense and security cooperation, as well as lasting economic partnerships, with major countries in the region.

According to a news release on Wednesday, June 18, the delegation was led by PCG Deputy Commandant for Operations (DCO) Vice Admiral Edgar Ybañez, PCG Fleet Commander Rear Admiral Arnaldo Lim, and Exercise Director Captain Lawrence Roque.

“We are looking forward to the activities ahead and to the many opportunities this visit will bring for shared learning, mutual understanding, and lasting friendship,” Ybañez said during the visit last Monday, June 16.

JCG Vice Admiral Odachi Hiroaki welcomed the PCG delegation at the JCG Kagoshima Regional Headquarters.

A delegation of the United States Coast Guard (USCG) was also present, led by Captain Brian Krautler of the USCG Cutter (USCGC STRATTON), along with the vessel officers. (PNA)
