PCSO: No Lotto draws, games on Christmas, New Year

There will be no selling of tickets and lotto draws for games on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) announced Wednesday (Dec. 15).

“December 25, Saturday, Christmas Day, and January 1, 2022, Saturday, New Year’s Day, no selling/ no draw,” the agency said in an advisory.

PCSO General Manager Royina Garma said the lotto draws for Dec. 24 and 31 will be held earlier, at 11:30 a.m. for the morning draw followed by 2:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. for the afternoon draws.

The selling period is from 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for Lotto and digit games, and 7:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. for Keno on Dec. 24 and 31.

Garma said this is to allow PCSO personnel and patrons to spend the holidays with their families.

The regular selling and draws will resume from Dec. 26 to 30 and Jan. 2, 2022, onwards.

Garma urged the public to patronize PCSO games to generate more funds to be used to assist Filipinos.

The PCSO serves as the principal government agency for raising and providing funds for health programs, medical assistance and services, and charities of national character.

One of its key programs is the medical access program, which is designed to augment the medical needs of Filipinos nationwide, particularly hospital confinement, chemotherapy, dialysis, and post-transplant medicines.
