PCW: 51% of registered voters are women

By Gabriela Baron

The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) said 51% of registered voters for the upcoming May 9 polls are women while 49% are men.

Among registered Filipino overseas voters, the majority are also women, PCW noted.

In 2019, over 31.8 million women registered for the midterm election, and of the number, only 24.2 women actually voted.

The voter turnout for women in 2019 was only 76.15%.

“Hinihikayat ng PCW ang lahat ng rehistradong Juana na bumoto at makiisa sa Eleksyon 2022 para maisulong ang #AgendaNgKababain.”

Meanwhile, citing data from the Commission on Elections, PCW said only 17% of candidates seeking national positions are women, while the remaining 83% are men. – ag
