PDEA denies issuing warning vs marijuana-laced milk tea

By Gabriela Baron

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) denied on Saturday, June 10, issuing a written order warning its personnel to avoid drinking a milk tea containing substances found in marijuana.

This after a certain directive that was said to be signed by PDEA Director General Moro Virgilio Lazo circulated on social media.

PDEA clarified that Lazo “did not sign the pictured/posted document.”

“The seemingly ‘signature’ was meant to be an X mark, for his intention was to have it verbally disseminated within PDEA only in relation to the One Strike policy of the Agency on personnel who fail the regular mandatory surprise drug tests,” the agency explained.

Personnel who fail surprise drug tests will face consequences, the agency further explained.

“Even as PDEA is not the government agency that is mandated to determine and check the safety of food and beverage products for public consumption, the Agency will closely coordinate and submit its findings to the proper authorities,” PDEA added. – cf
