CARMEN, North Cotabato — Joint anti-narcotics agents from the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and in Region 12, backed by elements of the Army’s 602nd Infantry Brigade, arrested here Wednesday four drug personalities for transporting more than PHP100, 000 worth of illegal drugs.

Juvenal Azurin, chief of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)–ARMM, said the suspects were arrested at around 4 p.m. at a joint police and military checkpoint in Barangay Gen. Luna here.

PDEA records revealed that suspects Alfaisal “Pai” Ambalgan Amiril, Rasol Katog Karim, Sandato “Loy” Andal Madsay and Basco Asib Madsay were members of local drug group supplying prohibited stuff to drug users in Cotabato City, Maguindanao and North Cotabato.

The suspects were on board a black Ford Ranger with license plate (ABH 3543) when flagged down at the checkpoint, Azurin said.

Seized from them were one huge transparent plastic sachet suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride known as “shabu” weighing some 20 grams with an estimated value of Php100, 000; and three mobile phone units believed to be containing illegal drug transactions.

Azurin said charges for violation of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) had been filed against the suspects who were now under the custody of PDEA-ARMM. (PNA)
