Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) at the Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory performed “Senakulo” (Passion play) on Good Friday, April 15, in observance of Holy Week.
The three-hour play was participated in by about 2,754 PDL who went through workshops and rehearsals before their performance.
According to Jail Warden Superintendent Michelle Bonto, they had a lot of preparations, better stage designs, and sound effects have been made to improve the show this year.
The “Senakulo” was held through a pre-recorded voice of the Biblical verses and events with the help of the former PDL resident DJ Marieto “Papa Tolits” Laureño.
Although they held various events during the lent season, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Spokesperson Jail Supt. Xavier Solda still urged every inmate to join different activities to strengthen their faith behind bars. –Report from Rey Ferrer/ KC-gb
