Perlas Pilipinas falls short against host Malaysia 

Despite an impressive late game rally, Perlas Pilipinas fell short from winning as the host country Malaysia escaped with a stunning 60-56 victory in the 29th SEA Games’ women’s basketball at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Philippines managed to trade baskets with the Malaysians in the first quarter of the ball-game, refusing to ride on the host’s momentum as they held narrowed one-point deficit, 13-12.

The toe-to-toe battle continued in the second quarter but the pumped up Malaysian players’ shots started to fall as they displayed a late 11-0 blast to put the Perlas Pilipinas into the trailing side at the break, 34-23.

Down by 11 points, the Filipinas managed to by as much as 8 points but the hosts refused to go down without giving a fighback by maintaining the momentum on their side as they sustain a 9-point lead at the end of the third canto, 47-38.

Courtesy of their collective efforts in the offensive and defensive end, a huge fourth quarter storm was unleashed by the Filipinas as they showcased an impressive 10-0 surge to narrow the gap into just tone points. The Filipinas tied the ball game with a contested banked three-point shot, 54 apiece in just 1:35 seconds left in the ball game.

But still, due to end-game fouls of Perlas side while the Malaysian squad consistently knocking down their charities, the hosts escaped with a colse-game victory.
