PEZA okays Palayan City biz hub as IT park

MANILA — The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) has formally certified the Palayan City Government Center and Central Business Hub (PCBH) as an information technology park, opening up technology-based locators to more government incentives.

On Friday, it awarded the certification of registration to Malaysia-based developer, AlloyMTD Group.

MTD Philippines, Inc. President Patrick Nicholas David said the PCBH, located on a three-hectare land in Palayan City, Nueva Ecija, will be home to several government offices and business process outsourcing (BPO) facilities.

David mentioned that the company began development in mid-2016 and opened the operation in the first quarter of the year.

He added that AlloyMTD invested PHP1.6 billion for the PCBH. MTD Philippines is the local unit of AlloyMTD.

Meanwhile, Palayan City Mayor Rianne Cuevas also bared that BPO firm Sutherland will commence its operation at the PCBH as the first locator in the office space by September this year.

Cuevas expects the development of PCBH to create some 18,000 new jobs.

“Currently, we also have an outbound call center facility, ReSourcing Global Philippines, which was the pioneer call center in Palayan City. ReSourcing Global is likewise expanding to 300 seats up to end of the year,” said Cuevas.

“The Government Center at PCBH is home to the POEA One-Stop-Shop that services our modern heroes — the Overseas Filipino Workers. We are proud to be the host to 16 government agencies with satellite offices at the One-Stop,” she added. POEA is the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration.

Meanwhile, PEZA Director General Charito Plaza has invited firms to set up shop in the country’s ecozones. She added that the creation of “more economic zones nationwide will spread development in the countryside.” (PNA)
