PGH ER at 200% capacity

The emergency room (ER) of the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) is currently at 200% capacity, its spokesperson said Tuesday, June 7.

In the Laging Handa briefing, PGH Spokesperson Dr. Jonas del Rosario said the state-run hospital only has a 70-bed ER capacity but now caters to 150 patients.

He, however, clarified that the increase in ER admission is not COVID-related.

The PGH official said most of their patients suffer from pneumonia, diabetes, as well as heart, lungs, and kidney-related diseases.

“Marami po kaming mga pasyenteng natatanggap either walk-in po o kaya mga dinadala ng mga ambulansya [mula] sa iba’t ibang ospital,” del Rosario said,” he added. – ag
