PH asks ADB for $325M loan for vaccine procurement

The Philippine government has asked the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for a loan of $325 million to use in the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine procurement.

In a press briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque stated that the Philippines may borrow $400 million to $500 million under the $9 billion Asia-Pacific Vaccine Access Facility (APVAX).

It can be recalled that the government has initially allotted ₱72.5 billion for the COVID-19 vaccine under the ₱4.5 trillion national budget.

Meanwhile, the 2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine from the British company AstraZeneca have already been guaranteed while the Philippine government is still looking into the vaccines from China, Russia, and America. – PTV News
