PH athletes back home after successful Hanoi Games stint

Another batch of Filipino sports heroes returned to the country on Tuesday, May 17, after their successful 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games campaign in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) welcomed Monday night the Philippine Triathlon and Duathlon team.

The run-bike-run-race squad bagged three golds, one silver, and one bronze medal in the biennial meet.

Five-time SEA Games gold medalist Kim Mangrobang won back to back gold in women’s individual events of the triathlon and duathlon event, while Raven Alcoseba settled for bronze in the triathlon’s women’s individual.

The men’s triathlon team dominated the men’s individual triathlon by grabbing the gold and silver medal of the event, courtesy of Fernando Jose Casares Tan and Andrew Remolino.

Today, PSC also welcomed the national artistic gymnastics team who brightly shined in the biennial regional competition by bagging seven golds, three silvers, and two bronze.

The former team USA Aleah Finnegan thrived in Filipino colors with her two golds in women’s team and women’s vault, and one silver in women’s individual all around.

Pinoy top gymnast Carlos Yulo is currently ther most bemedalled Filipino athlete in the competition with a total haul of five golds and two silvers from all the seven categories that he joined.

Meanwhile, the other members of the national weightlifting team, cycling, and esports are on their way to Hanoi, Vietnam to add more medals to the Philippine medal haul. – ag
