PH, Cambodia to strengthen cooperation in agri, low-cost housing, digitalization

The Philippines and Cambodia on Thursday, Nov. 10, agreed to boost collaboration in agriculture and digitalization.

The two countries had identified the partnership in the sectors of agriculture (mechanization and food processing), micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), energy, and low-cost housing.

Aside from digitalization and rice importation, tie-ups in elderly medical care was mentioned particularly in creating jobs for Filipino nurses, and manufacturing of garments and traveling bags.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. had a CEO roundtable meeting in Cambodia where he urged Cambodian businesses to invest in the Philippines as the economy strives to bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The President said the government needs investors from the private sectors and stressed the country’s improvement in the investment climate.

Marcos also highlighted the five percent unemployment rate of the country, the lowest since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
