PH coordinates with other COVID-19 vaccine developers

The Department of Health (DOH) has disclosed that the Philippine government is coordinating with 16 other developers of vaccine against the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The Philippines is part of the solidarity trial of the World Health Organization (WHO) for developing medicines against COVID-19.

“Mas ginugusto ng mga vaccine experts natin na masubukan din dito sa local…based on our ethnicity… Mayroon ding mga ilang bakuna na isasama ang WHO dito sa vaccine trials na ito. (Our vaccine experts want to try [the vaccine] locally…based on our ethnicity… There are also several vaccines that WHO will include in the vaccine trials). All of these are being explored,” DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire disclosed.

The DOH reiterated that the vaccines will undergo a strict regulatory process to ensure that they are safe for public use.
