The Department of Health (DOH) detected three more cases of the Omicron BA.5 subvariant on Tuesday, June 7.
In a media forum, DOH said two of the three new cases are from Calabarzon, while the address of the remaining case is still being verified.
“The individual whose location is being verified is fully-vaccinated and an individual from Region IV-A is unvaccinated while the other is being verified,” DOH said.
“At the moment, exposure of individuals is still unknown and travel histories are being verified,” it added, noting that the three individuals are now tagged as recovered.
The first two cases of BA.5, a variant of concern, were recorded June 3.
DOH also reported seven more cases of the more contagious Omicron BA.2.12.1 subvariant.
The Health department confirmed in May the local transmission of the said subvariant. – ag
