PH government receives ‘urgent’ military assistance from China

The Philippine government, led by President Rodrigo Duterte, on Wednesday received brand new firearms and ammunitions from the People’s Republic of China during a turnover ceremony at Clark Airbase in Pampanga.

Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua turned over the military package, which was just said to be the first batch of China’s military equipment assistance to our troops fighting for peace particularly in Mindanao.

More than 3,000 rifles ranging from automatic and high precision rifles were handed over to the military, together with 5 million ammunitions and 90 units of sniper rifles with more than 800,000 ammunitions.

According to the Chinese Ambassador, this is just a proof of a stronger and solid relationship between China and Philippines, which will contribute to the success of the country’s battle against terrorism.

Moreover, Zhao added that the government of China will continuously assist the Philippines in its fight against terrorism, and even expressed their interest on the cooperation and support in combat areas.

President Duterte, on the other hand, willingly welcomed China’s offer and even mentioned his heartfelt gratitude to President Xi Jinping.

Meanwhile, the military equipment will be divided to the uniformed men in service to help combat terrorism around the country.
