PH, India Hold Bilateral Meeting on the Sidelines of EAS, ARF

Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin Jr. met with India’s Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on 1 August 2019 at the sidelines of the 9th East Asia Summit (EAS) and the 26th ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in Bangkok, Thailand to discuss bilateral issues including upcoming high-level visits and exchanges.

Secretary Locsin highlighted the various areas of cooperation between the Philippines and India as the two countries celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in November. The foreign ministers also exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual concern.

This is the first bilateral meeting of Secretary Locsin with Minister Jaishankar since the latter assumed his post as External Affairs Minister on 31 May 2019.
