PH logs all-time high single-day COVID-19 cases at 22,366

The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday (Aug. 30) recorded 22,366 new COVID-19 cases in the country.

So far, this is the highest number of additional COVID-19 cases in a single day since Aug. 28, when the Philippines logged 19,441 new cases.

The DOH also recorded 16,864 new recoveries and 222 fatalities.

The fresh cases bring the country’s COVID-19 tally to 1,976,202. Around 7.5% or 148,594 are active cases, 90.8 % or 1,794,278 have recovered, and 1.69% or 33,330 have died from COVID-19.

As of Aug. 30, the occupancy rate of intensive care unit (ICU) beds stands at 74%, while isolation beds and ward beds are 65% and 70% utilized, respectively.

Feasibility Analysis of Syndromic Surveillance using Spatio-Temporal Epidemiological Modeler (FASSSTER), a web-based disease surveillance platform funded by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development, has earlier projected 25,000 COVID-19 cases per day. – Report from PTV News / CF – rir
