The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) downgraded its alert level in Israel to Level 2 (restriction phase) from Level 3 (voluntary repatriation).
In a Facebook post Monday night, the DFA said the measure takes effect immediately, following positive developments in Israel’s security situation.
“The Department will closely monitor the situation in the region and will update the Alert Levels, as necessary,” the DFA said.
Alert Level 2 is raised when there are threats to the life, security, and property of Filipinos arising from internal disturbance, instability, and external threat.
Under this level, Filipinos are urged to restrict non-essential movements, avoid public places, and prepare for evacuation, and stay in contact with the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate.
Meanwhile, overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who have returned to the Philippines and who still have valid Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) and re-entry visa are now allowed to travel back to Israel.
Pilgrims, tourists, and other non-essential travels are still not allowed, including newly-hired workers.
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said there are about 30,000 OFWs in Israel, mostly caregivers and hotel workers.
Last week, United States’ President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire deal between Israel and Iran.
Israel then declared a “historic victory” of its 12-day military action dubbed Operation Rising Lion, which decimated several Iranian nuclear sites from June 13 to 24.
The Israel Defense Forces Home Front Command has since lifted all restrictions on schools, public gatherings, and workplaces.
