The National Privacy Commission (NPC) on Friday, May 12, received a bomb threat on its Facebook page.

In a statement, the NPC said all necessary measures have been implemented to ensure safety of its premises and personnel.

“Upon receiving the bomb threat, we immediately activated our emergency response procedures and notified the security office of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), where our office is located,” NPC Commissioner John Henry Naga said.

He said the NPC is now working with authorities to determine the threat’s credibility.

“The National Privacy Commission plays a critical role in safeguarding the privacy rights of individuals and protecting their personal data. We are committed to upholding our mandate, and threats against our institution will not prevent us from fulfilling our responsibilities,” he said.

“I want to emphasize that the National Privacy Commission remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting the privacy rights of every Filipino citizen,” he added. – cf
