PH provinces post high utilization rate in ICU and COVID beds

The Department of Health (DOH) sees an increased hospital and intensive care unit utilization rate in some regions in the country.

According to the latest report on (Saturday) July 10, the Davao Region (XI) is still in a high risk classification for COVID-19, while the Bicol Region (V) and Soccsksargen (XII) recorded a high hospital bed utilization rate.

Meanwhile, these are the regions with high risk utilization rate in intensive care units: Davao Region (XI), Western Visayas (VI), CARAGA (XIII), Bicol Region (V), and Soccsksargen (XII).

In a Laging Handa public briefing on Sunday, DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire also reported that about 12.9 million vaccine doses have already been administered.

Of which, 4.8% of the total Philippine population have completed their two-dose vaccination.

The health expert attributed the slow progress of the vaccination program to the delays of vaccine arrival to the country.

‘Pag tiningnan natin, medyo bumagal ang pagbabakuna especially in [the National Capital Region] dahil na-delay nang kaunti ang ating mga doses. Pero makikita naman natin sa mga susunod na linggo [na] makakahabol tayo ulit,” Vergeire said. – PTV News / CF-rir
