PH receives 250-K Moderna vaccine doses

The Philippines received an additional 250,800 doses of Moderna vaccines on Thursday (July 15) afternoon.

The second shipment of Moderna vaccines landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3. 194,400 doses out of the 250,800 are procured by the government while the remaining 56,400 doses are allotted for the private sector.

Half a million doses of Moderna vaccine have already been delivered to the Philippines and more are expected to arrive as part of the 20-million-dose agreement between the government and Moderna.

Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III said the new arrival of the said vaccines will be deployed in the NCR Plus and 10 designated areas. The deployment will begin on Friday (July 16).

Duque explained that the volume of the delivered vaccines is not as large as the other vaccine brands due to limited supply.

“Patingi-tingi dahil siguro ‘yung kanilang suplay limited din, and they have to supply all other countries hindi lang naman tayo,” he said.

4.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines arrived in the country in the first two weeks of July, bringing the total number of vaccine deliveries to 22 million doses.
