PH volleyball team dismantles Malaysia in 2017 SEA Games

Despite the hostile environment due to host country’s crowd, the Philippine team overpowered the Malaysian team, 25-18, 25-11, 25-16, in an intense 2017 Southeast Asian Games volleyball opener on Thursday at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Center.

Displaying their height advantage and in-game ascendancy, the Philippine team only needed the first three sets to dispatch the home team.

Utilizing her dominance, Jaja Santiago spearheaded the Philippines’ overpowering attacks with her 13 points, while Abby Maraño exposed her efficiency with her 11 points.

Wing veterans Jovelyn Gonzaga and Alyssa Valdez scored nine and eight points, respectively.  Kim Fajardo also added 5 service aces.

With this win, the Philippine team is already assured for a semifinals spot.
