PhilHealth CEO Morales resigns

Malacañang has confirmed that President and CEO Ricardo Morales has submitted his resignation letter amidst the alleged irregularities in PhilHealth.

According to Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Menardo Guevarra, the leader of the task force investigating the involved agency, President Rodrigo R. Duterte advised that it is “best” for Morales to resign from his post “during these critical times for the agency.”

The DOJ Chief has also disclosed that Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea has talked to Morales and the latter said he understands if he has to be replaced.

Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III has accepted the resignation of Morales.

“He has announced it na mayroon po siyang sakit and this is part of siguro po, (He has an illness and this is part of, maybe his) treatment. The Secretary understands this predicament” DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire imparted.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that President Duterte wants a responsible and not corrupt individual to take over as the new PhilHealth president.
