DAGUPAN CITY — The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) 1 (Ilocos) disbursed PHP6.7 billion in claims for medical reimbursement of its member beneficiaries in the entire region in 2018.
Dr. Maricar Arzadon, PhilHealth-1 health care delivery management division chief, said that of the total amount, 33 percent or PHP2.2 billion were claimed by members under the indigent or sponsored category; while senior citizens or lifetime members received PHP1.8 billion, or 27 percent of the total disbursement last year.
She said 25 percent or PHP1.7 billion in claims were from the informal economy or the voluntary members, and 15 percent or PHP1 billion were from the formal economy category or the employed members.
Arzadon identified the top 10 paid medical case rates during the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkasters sa Pilipinas forum on Thursday.
“The top 10 claims are case rates under pneumonia (moderate risk), acute gastroenteritis, urinary tract infection, hypertension stage 2, dengue with warning signs, dengue without warning signs, bronchial asthma, acute gastritis, essential hypertension, and bacterial sepsis in newborn,” she said.
Arzadon also listed the top medical procedures availed of by the members last year, among them hemodialysis, those related to giving birth, extracapsular cataract removal, and interventions for cancer patients, such as chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
The Ilocos region has 396 PhilHealth-accredited facilities.
