GENERAL SANTOS CITY — The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) in Region 12 or Soccsksargen is targeting to further decrease the processing time for hospital claims to provide faster services to residents.

Dr. Antoniette Ladio, PhilHealth-12 health care delivery and management services division chief, said Tuesday they have been improving their system to fast-track the processing of documents for health insurance claims.

Ladio said it currently takes PhilHealth an average of 16 days to process the payment of hospital claims, considered among the fastest in the country.

“We have been implementing strategies to improve and make transactions easier and faster,” said Ladio in a briefing.

Under the National Health Insurance Act of 2013, she said PhilHealth was mandated to process the payment of hospital claims within 60 days.

In January this year, Ladio said they posted an average of 20-day processing time for hospital claims and cut it further down to 15 days in the next two months.

Ladio said they have been continually assessing and rationalizing their processing systems in compliance with the reforms set by the Ease of Doing Business Act.

Ladio said the agency receives and processes an average of 60,000 hospital claims every month.

“At that rate, we process at least 2,000 claims every day,” he added.
