Phivolcs not expecting aftershocks from magnitude 4.5 Mindoro quake

MANILA — The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) is not expecting aftershocks and any damage from the 4.5 magnitude quake that hit Occidental Mindoro on Monday morning, it said.

The quake of tectonic origin had a depth of 33 kilometers.

Intensity III was reported in Looc, while Intensity II was recorded in Lubang.

Based on the Phivolcs’ earthquake intensity scale, Intensity III is “weak”, but can be felt by many people, especially those in the upper floors.

Intensity II, on the other hand, is felt by few individuals, and hanging objects swing lightly. (Ma. Cristina Arayata/PNA)
