Phoenix Fuel Masters to acquire Jeff Chan in trade with ROS Elasto Painters

As the current members of the National team are on their way to fight for the country’s pride in the upcoming SEA Games and FIBA Asia Cup, a former Gilas veteran gunner is now on his path in finding a new home team.

The Rain or Shine is set to trade their long-serving sniper Jeff Chan in exchange for Phoenix Fuel Masters’ Mark Borboran and their 2017 second round pick.

Trade papers have already been sent to the PBA Commissioner’s Office for final approval, and the said deal is expected to take effect on Monday.

The 33-year old gunslinger Chan has been with Rain or Shine under Coach Yeng Guiao since 2009, where they both bagged two championships with the franchise, while earning a Finals MVP in 2012 PBA Governors’ Cup.

Chan is also labeled as one of the reliable streaky shooters in the country’s campaign in international games — helping the Philippine team won in different major games, including their silver medal finish in the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship.

With this deal, Chan is set to share minutes with Fuel Masters’ rookie gunner Matthew Wright and co-former Gilas wingman JC Intal.

Mark Borboran, on the other hand, is expected to compliment with Elasto Painters’ Gabe Norwood, Jericho Cruz and James Yap in wing position. | Tretch Melarpes – PTV
