Php 1.44B disbursed under initial fund release for AKAP

Malacañang on Monday reported more updates on the various assistance measures of the government such as DOLE AKAP amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque disclosed the disbursed amount for the AKAP Program of the Department of Labor and Employment has reached almost Php 1.44 billion from the initial fund release of Php 1.5 billion received on April 8 where 139,000 OFWs benefitted.

Secretary Roque also announced that an additional Php 169 million fund was disbursed for the project as of June 15, 2020 from the additional fund release of Php 1 billion last May 14, 2020 where 16,230 OFWs were paid.

Meanwhile, Roque shared that the credit rating of the Philippines based on the Japan credit rating agency has climbed to A- from BBB+.

“This recognition by Japan’s leading credit agency is an affirmation of the international community’s faith in our economic strength and resilience amid the worst global downturn in nearly a century,” Roque shared. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
