Php 1M compensation distribution to fallen healthcare workers ongoing

The distribution of financial assistance by the Department of Health (DOH) is now ongoing. Recepients are families of healthcare workers who succumbed to or were severely affected by the COVID-19

“Naibigay na ho ang tseke sa 29 na heirs, tatlo na lang po ‘yung gagawin natin ngayong araw para makumpleto po ‘yung listahan natin at maibigay ang benepisyo na ‘yan (We have issued checks to 29 heirs, the remaining three will be processed today to complete the list and give the said benefits),” DOH USec. Maria Rosario Vergeire said.

“With regards to those who has severe symptoms at mabibigyan po ng Php 100,000, ‘yung database po namin ng 79 workers ay nakaayos na rin po (With regards to those who has severe symptoms and will be given Php 100,000, our database for 79 workers has been prepared),” Vergeire added.

Meanwhile, the DOH announced its plan to include in the expanded testing those who are asymptomatic to boost contact tracing.

The criteria for testing asymptomatic subgroups include those in close contact with infected persons such as family members, officemates, and healthcare workers.

As of June 6, the total count of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country reached 21,340 after 350 fresh cases and 364 late cases were reported. Total number of recoveries climbed to 4,441 while the death toll rose to 994.
