PHP40.8-million illegal drugs confiscated in NAIA

Six kilograms of illegal drugs amounting to PHP40.8 million was confiscated from a Filipina at the arrival area, Terminal 3, Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) today, November 08, 2019. Said carrier arrived from Siem Reap, Cambodia. Flights from Cambodia and Thailand are monitored strictly by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) because the Philippines is used as one of the transit points of illicit drugs by the Golden Triangle consisting of Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand. Following the assumption of ICAD co-chairmanship by Vice President Leonor “Leni” Robredo, the PDEA ensured stringent watch on illegal drugs, particularly in the NAIA to deny any entry of the illicit substances.
