Piggeries, poultries to be banned in QC

The Quezon City local government has declared that no piggery and poultry-raising will be allowed in Quezon City by February 2020. Mayor Joy Belmonte points out that this is not only due to the African Swine Feve (ASF) outbreak but merely an enforcement of the law that prohibits husbandry in highly urbanized cities. While hog raisers have gone emotional letting go of their source of livelihood, acceptance appears to be a better option with their business having a natural death due to the ASF epidemic. Belmonte assured that PhP3000 will be given to raisers for each pig infected with ASF.
