‘Pito-Pito’ Art Exhibit runs until June 19 in Cavite

KAWIT, Cavite – The Provincial Government of Cavite (PGC) has opened an art exhibit that features various art works from 10 artists from different parts of Cavite at the Museo ni Emilio Aguinaldo (MEA) here.

The exhibit, dubbed as “Pito-Pito” Art Group Exhibit and runs from June 12 to June 19, is part of the provincial government’s efforts to sustain activities lined up as the nation celebrates the 120th Independence Day anniversary

Provincial Tourism officer-in-charge (OIC) Elinia Imelda Rozelle S. Sangalang, who led the exhibit opening on Tuesday, said the art group derived its name from the medicinal brew “pito-pito,” a combination of seven different herbs and believed to be a remedy for a variety of ailment.

Henry Bokeng Ancanan, who presided over the umbrella of artist groups in Cavite including “Pito-Pito”, explained that the ‘Pito-Pito’ Art group is just like the medicinal brew, where each herb has its own unique property. He said members have their own unique ability and common belief that art is therapeutic both to the physical and spiritual aspects of existence.

The featured artists, who come from different parts of Cavite and bound for a common goal to propagate and promote arts in the community, include Leo “Norbert” Frianeza (“Palayain ang Isipan,” a 30x40in acrylic on canvas); Winston Hernandez (“Ang Gurami at ang Mamera” and “Ako at ang pang araw-araw na kalayaan,” mixed media, 20x16in); and Ji Young Park (“Siyaman,” acrylic on canvas, 20x16in).

Also featured are the artworks of Pula Ancanan (“Battlefield,” acrylic on canvas, 20x16in); Crisanta Tamayo-Ancanan (“Pagkakaisa,” Acrylic on Canvas, 30x40in); Henry Bokeng Ancanan (“Ang Mamatay ng Dahil Sayo,” 40x30in); Elvin Santiago (“Kadakilaan ng Ating Lahi. 40x30in); Bobby Balingit (“Bulaklak ng Apoy,” 40x30in); Adrian Jay Manuel (“Ang Lumang Larawan ng Heneral,” 40x30in); and Noel “Oweng” Bayas (“Sining Malaya,” 15x19in acrylic on canvass). (Gladys Pino/PNA)
