PL groups have until April 30 to file manifestation for ‘19 polls

MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reminded party-list organizations that are looking to participate in the May 2019 mid-term elections they have until April 30 to file a manifestation of intent to participate.

Through Comelec Resolution 10245, the poll body has set the deadline for the filing of party list groups of their manifestation in connection with their candidacy in the next national polls.

Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez urged party-list groups, coalitions, and organizations, even if they are registered or not, to file their manifestations.

“An April 30, 2018 deadline is set for filing of the Manifestation of Intent to Participate in the 2019 Elections for PL System by as-yet unregistered PL Groups, Coalitions, and Organizations; and filing of the Manifestation of Intent to Participate in the 2019 Elections for PL System by existing PL Groups, Coalitions, and Organizations,” he said.

The poll body official noted that the submission of petitions for registration of unregistered PL Groups, Coalitions, and Organizations is also set on April 30.

“This post is simply to remind everyone that a deadline is coming, and it is coming fast,” Jimenez added.

The manifestations can be filed at the Comelec office in Manila.

A total of 115 accredited party-list groups participated in the 2016 party-list elections.

Of the number, 46 organizations are now occupying 59 party-list seats in the House of Representatives. (PNA)
