ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) launched its first official hymn in a ceremony that coincided with the flag-raising rite Monday in Camp Col. Romeo Abendan in Barangay Mercedes, this city.
Brig. Gen. Froilan Quidilla, PRO-9 acting director, said Monday the PRO-9 hymn seeks to inspire the men and women of the command, who were instrumental in the fulfillment of the mission and vision of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Through the initiative of Col. Christopher Birung, chief of PRO-9 directorial staff, the hymn was written and composed by Patrolmen Ethyl Jim Natividad, Andi Mark Ongkil and Emir Khan Musallin — all assigned at the regional headquarters.
Quidilla said the lyrics of the hymn were checked by Prof. Francis Marcial of the Filipino Department of the Ateneo de Davao University.
The hymn was arranged and conducted by Maestro Jeremiah Calisang, a renowned musical arranger from the University of the Philippines (UP) and Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) and was performed by the award-winning WMSU grand chorale.
Quidilla said the hymn, its lyrics centered on the dedication, commitment and devotion of the PRO-9 personnel in their respective field of work as a police officer, is incorporated in a four-minute music video and showed the images of police officers conducting police operation, investigation, patrol, relief operations, and medical outreach, among others.
Meanwhile, Quidilla said the music video is set to be launched in all television and radio stations in the region, as well as on the internet, social media sites, and in selected movie houses.
