PNP assures no warrantless arrest of UP students

The Philippine National Police (PNP) assured that there will be no warrantless arrest of students of the University of the Philippines (UP) following the termination of the UP-Department of National Defense (DND) accord.

PNP Spokesperson Brigadier General Ildebrandi Usana pointed out that no police has the right to arrest without warrant. The rule of law shall prevail.

Secretary Delfin Lorenzana terminated the said agreement on Monday night after the DND discovered that UP campuses have been allegedly a “breeding ground” of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA). – PTV News
