PNP assures preparation for PRRD’s last SONA

The Philippine National Police (PNP) assured its preparation for the upcoming State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

PNP Chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said on Saturday (July 17) that no security threats have currently been monitored. He added that the organization will base on the peaceful situation of the President’s last SONA in planning their security this year.

“Palapit na ng palapit ang SONA ng Pangulo at batid ng PNP ang matinding interes ng ating mga kababayan sa kanyang mensahe kaya naman patuloy ang aming paghahanda para dito,” he said.

Eleazar also urged the groups who plan to conduct a physical protest to conduct their activities virtually.

Meanwhile, the national police guaranteed the strengthened implementation of the health protocols following the reported local case of the Delta variant in the country.

“The success and failure of our efforts to prevent the spread of this more transmissible and more deadly variant is on our hands: by strictly observing the tried-and-tested observance of the minimum public health safety protocol,” he added.
