PNP Bicol creates SIT ”Bercasio” to probe Sorsogon media killing incident

Camp BGen Simeon A Ola, Legazpi City— Police Regional Office 5 through Sorsogon PPO created a Special Investigation Team (SIT) “Bercasio” headed by PLTCOL BENITO DIPAD JR, to probe the shooting incident of a former media practitioner in Sorsogon City yesterday.

The victim was identified as Jobert Balidoy Bercasio aka “Polpog”, 39 years old, a resident of Purok 3, Sitio Dancalan, Brgy. Buenavista, Bacon District, Sorsogon City who was gunned down by two unidentified persons at about 7:55 in the evening of September 14, 2020, near XTRM Seabreeze Homes Subdivision, Brgy. Cabid-an of the said province. Bercasio is currently affiliated with Balangibog News Online portal.

Investigation disclosed that while the victim was onboard a venus scooter from Sorsogon proper, he was waylaid by the suspects and suddenly shot four times hitting the different parts of his body that resulted in his instantaneous death. Said suspects fled towards unknown direction after the incident.

Relatedly, following the stern orders of PBGEN BARTOLOME R BUSTAMANTE, RD, PRO5, the Regional Anti-Cyber Crime Unit 5 was directed to conduct examination on the social media account of the victim and his recent posts as part of the ongoing investigation.

PNP Bicol condemns in strongest manner the brutal killing of the said media member. Thus, it will mobilize all means possible within the limits of the law to investigate and identify the culprit of the incidents and to give justice to the bereaved family.
