PNP Chief orders units to be alert following recent NPA attacks

The Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar ordered the national police to be alert against possible attacks of the New People’s Army (NPA).

PGen. Eleazar cautioned the organization on Tuesday (June 8) following the recent attacks of the group in Masbate City, Legazpi City, and Buenavista town in Quezon.

Eleazar has also directed the PNP officials to intensify their monitoring and intelligence-gathering against the said group.

‘I also expect police commanders to intensify the monitoring and intelligence-gathering against this communist armed group,” he said.

The PNP Chief believes that the rebel group wants to show its strength despite many of the group’s members surrendering to the government.  (PTV News)/NGS-rir
