PNP-CIDG leads contact tracing of COVID-19 cases

The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) leads the contact tracing of the suspected and probable Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.

The PNP has coordinated with regional and local health officials to expedite the search for possible COVID-19 cases. PNP Chief Police General Archie Gamboa has initially asked for the support of Local Government Units (LGUs) in their contact tracing.

PNP Spokesperson Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac has stated that they will continue the strict implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine. However, Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar has clarified that the protocols will be lenient in the areas under the General Community Quarantine starting May 1.

PNP Spokesperson Banac has added that PNP personnel are manning the checkpoints due to their concern for the safety of the Filipinos against COVID-19.
