PNP debunks reports of declaration of Martial Law

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has debunked reports of declaration of Martial Law while Luzon is under Enhanced Community Quarantine.

In a public briefing, PNP Spokesperson Brigadier General Bernard Banac stated that there is no indication that the government’s efforts against Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) will lead to Martial Law.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) also insisted that part of their duty is to help the government in preventing the spread of COVID-19.

AFP Spokesperson Brigadier General Edgard Arevalo reiterated that the AFP and PNP are one with the government in fighting COVID-19.

The PNP assured the public that there is no reason to be distressed.

Albay 2nd District Representative Joey Salceda has added that only invasion and rebellion can be the basis of declaring Martial Law in the Philippines.
