PNP-HPG bike lane operations continue

The Philippine National Police- Highway Patrol Group said people are gradually becoming more aware of bike lanes and assured operations will be conducted on bike lane implementation.

On the third day of its operations, only a few motorists were apprehended. In Quezon City, a delivery driver was given a ticket for parking on the said lane.

“Kapag walang mapagparkingan ang mga motorista, nagpa-park po sila sa bike lanes. Dapat hindi sila nagpa-park kasi nalalagay sa alanganin yung mga bisikleta, mga cyclist (When motorists don’t find parking spaces, they park on bike lanes. This should not be, because bikes and cyclists are placed in an awkward position),” PNP-HPG NCR Chief PCOL. Wilson Doromal reminded.

Aside from bike lane operations, the PNP-HPG has also been monitoring individuals violating quarantine protocols.

Doromal said the operations are meant to remind the public that there is still a health crisis. “Tandaan po natin, GCQ po tayo. Ibig sabihin po mayroon pa ding COVID pandemic. So dapat po protektahan po natin ang bawat isa sa atin (We should remember we are still in GCQ and there’s still a COVID pandemic. We must protect each other),” Doromal stated.
