PNP implements more orderly checkpoints on 2nd day of the enhanced community quarantine

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has implemented more orderly and organized checkpoints on the second day of the enhanced community quarantine.

PNP Spokesperson Police General Bernard Banac has observed a significant reduction of individuals and cars on the streets which is the objective of the enhanced community quarantine.

Adjustments have been made in the checkpoints which includes a dedicated lane for transport of food and cargo at the NLEX and SLEX that will help ease traffic in the areas.

The police are also considering the designation of lanes for health workers and personnel.

The PNP appeals for consideration from the public for their stringent measures and will continue to do their duties.

Meanwhile, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has reported the decrease in Metro Manila’s crime rate when the enhanced community quarantine was implemented.

Based on their data, there were only 37 reported crimes in the first three days of the implemented quarantine, and the PNP spokesperson has reported a lower crime rate in Luzon.

He added that this will help the police in focusing on the current crisis.

The PNP also temporarily suspended the Oplan Tokhang or their drug strategy, but Gen. Banac has clarified that their fight against drugs and related crimes continues.
